CAS TRAINING PROGRAMS

CAS offers different types of Programs, to support both those who want to deepen their understanding and embodiment of the Work, but do not necessarily want to become Certified Teachers, as well as those seeking full Teacher Training. We also offer opportunities to study on weekends, in week-long retreats, online, and through apprenticeships, to help you design a program that is tailored to the reality of your life.

Global Majority/BIPOC scholarships are available for PEP and Teacher Training Programs - contact CAS Director for more details.

CAS TRAINING PROGRAMS

There are various ways to join the CAS study community, some focus on personal and professional enrichment, others lead towards Certification as an Alexander Teacher:

  1. Join a Weekend Program. You can join a local study group in your area or create your own DREAM TEAM, which is a self-designed study group. The Weekend Program requires a one year commitment and can be done as many times as desired, as it will always offer new material.

  2. PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

The PEP offerings can be done Part-time or Full-time. They are first portion of the pathway towards becoming a certified Alexander Technique Teacher.

The Part-time Program limits you to 3 Events each year. The Full-Time Program offers you access to all Alexander Alliance International Events worldwide, and requires attendance at a minimum of 6 Events each year to maintain full-time status.

  3. TEACHER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

After the equivalent 2 Full-Time years of PEP, you can apply for this 2 year intensive. You have full access to all Events worldwide, and are required to fulfill a minimum of 7 Events each year; a minimum of 2 of which must be done at the Summer Immersion at Meadowmount School of Music in upstate NY each year.

If you have completed the requirements within the 2 years, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. If you also pass a proficiency test at the end of the 2 years, you will receive Teaching Certificate.

There is a 6 month grace period following graduation to allow you to attain proficiency, or complete your required Events, if needed. If you are not proficient by the end of the grace period, all additional study to reach proficiency requires additional tuition.

Certification from an Alexander Teacher Training Program is the only certification you need, legally, to teach, anywhere in the world. (You can also join various professional organizations, if you choose.)

  4. POST GRADUATE

Following your graduation, you may apply for this optional apprenticeship program, which offers mentoring while teaching at various CAS venues, as well as assistance in building your own practice.

  5. MENTORING TEACHERS

This unique, highly tailored program helps support Alexander Teachers who want to transition to training others.

While this is the fundamental schedule, CAS will work with you to tailor your program to the reality of your life, as best as possible.
